Re: Sliding rear window (small window)
I have a sliding window in my 85 K20 and rarely use it. I think that it actually does allow for more air movement, but what I notice more is that the cab is a bit quieter with it open along with all door windows. I guess the air flow in through the side windows and out the back helps reduce the noise compared to when only the side windows are open, kinda like wind blowing across a bottle top.
More importantly, you can throw things into the bed from the cab with more confidence that it will actually stay in the bed...LOL JK..I don't throw trash in the bed!

Re: Sliding rear window (small window)
I had one in my 67 for years. With the small opening it doesnt help as much as the larger windows but it does help. Another thing it helps with is anything relatively light will sometimes come flying in.

Re: Sliding rear window (small window)
Depends on how hot it is out. The Back window sure helps to vent the heat out alot faster when the truck has been sitting in the sun all day. They also change the way that the air flows through the cab and I prefer it so the back window is open all summer for me. I install them on pretty much every standard cab truck I own. Then on the flip side I think they are about worthless in an extended or quad cab. Wierd wind in the cab and to much of a pain to reach for.
As far as things like leaves blowing in, I have noticed that it alot worse with a tool box in the bed. |

Re: Sliding rear window (small window)
I have an all-black one in mine. I can't remember the brand - I bought it quite awhile ago.
When cruising with it open, the air comes in, not out through it. I still like it on a hot day with no A/C.

Re: Sliding rear window (small window)
The black works with a colored cab, where the silver frame works best with the white cab.
I finally put my slider in last year, and tinted the glass. Now, I’m thinking I’m going to take the tint off to improve the field of view. One thing I will say, is that the frames doo cut into the vision field. Another is that you can keep your side windows up on the hiway, by having it open just a little, and with the kickpanel vents open. |
