Going by the small photo you posted for the 1970 brochure,
Can you or anyone else please explain what am I seeing on the face of the ashtray?

Some type of emblem? I have never noticed this on an ashtray before.

I'm also curious about this mystery emblem/decal.

Do other year brochures show or depict anything on the ashtrays?

Maybe a pre-production idea from Chevrolet for the 1970 truck in their promotional brochure but never made it to factory production?

Sam, you have a GOOD eye there. Had not noticed that before and got rather curious my self. I used a magnifying glass to look and it looks to have the words "SEAT BELT FASTEN....." with some other darker lettering or symbols that can not be made out using the glass. Also looking thru the brochure it shows as "something" is there on the ash tray face in the small inset pic on page 3, twice on page 11 on the larger interior dash picture and smaller inset with green bench seat and on the large two page ad with the red dash. Can not tell if it is a adhesive sticker or emblem or just what it is. Very curious since other pictures thru out the brochure it does not show in any dash pictures.

GOOD EYE but can not tell you what it is for sure. ???? Myself I have never seen an original ash tray depicted with any sort of lettering or seat belt warning like that purported as an original. I have an original 1971 sales brochure I purchased for my restored '71 4x4 and just looked thru it and do not see anything similar at all in the brochure. Very interesting.
