22' Wheels and Tire help

I know what you're thinking, ANOTHER wheel and tire question?! I did try my best to educate myself before posting this but it all seems like a foreign language to me.

I reached out to an online vendor about a set of 22'' Ridler 695s
I wanted 22x9 up front and 22x10.5 in the rear. This was his response:

Availability: The Chrome 22x9 Ridler Style 695 wheel is currently in-stock (0mm).

Fitment: This wheel is made in a 5x5 bolt pattern for your 1986 C10 .

Tires: We have access to and stock tons of tires, but oddly I can’t find anything currently available in or near the 25.1x8.1R22 size that we’d typically suggest for this set-up. Is there any other size you’d be interested in looking at?

If we can find a tire for you, mounting and balancing on the full package will be free. Likewise, shipping on everything is also free (both for just wheels - and for a full wheel and tire package).

Let me know what you think and we can go from there.

Will this setup work for my truck? What tire size should I go with?
1986 C10 Shortbed at stock ride height.

Thank you for your help and patience. I know this gets asked way too often.

25" tire on a 22" rim? your only gonna have 1-1/2" of sidewall....that's not very much cushion...

Re: 22' Wheels and Tire help

Exactly my reason for posting. Is there a better tire size you’d recommend for a stock height shortbed? I want to fill up the wheel well as much as possible without causing issues.

I did a quick check and the stock tires for your 86 C-10 were
225/75/R15 at 28.3" tall or a 235/75/R15 at 28.9" tall

In a size 22" you have
255/30/R22 at 28" tall or a 285/30/22 at 28.7" tall, this leaves you with about a 2-1/2" or 3" side wall and both of these are a wide tire and could cause problems.

There are lots of 22" tires, these are based on filling up the wheel well.

You might want to check out the 20" for more side wall...Jim

Re: 22' Wheels and Tire help

I'm probably wont have the best opinion....I'm not a fan if big wheels and small tires...about the least amount of sidewall I would go with is around 5-6in..and rims no bigger than 17-18in.....but like I said...that's me...

Re: 22' Wheels and Tire help

You can get ideas here-- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=450199

22's will surely look good though I think 20's will look nice also and can provide better ride quality and handling. With 20's, you will have many options like Niche, american racing wheels, kmc, foose and raceline.
