Any rack and pinion gurus?
This is a rack out of a 99-07 chevy half ton. I would post in the late model forum but there isn’t much activity there. Besides, this is going on a 67! So my question is about the little pin. It’s centered in the body. Anyone know if it’s one piece and pressed in? Id like to make sure it’s not two pieces only to have them jam up inside the housing.

Re: Any rack and pinion gurus?
How am I going backwards in quality? And cost isn’t significant. I will have about the same into the project as I would if I were to rebuild the stock steering. I agree these trucks are great but, your truck isn’t mine. That why mine have ls motors and this one is cut down and will have a R&P. Gasp.

I'm wondering why your worrying about that pin? It works fine on the 99-07 Chevy half ton. It is more then likely a blind hole, but if you want to be sure take one out.

The housing looks like it’s two pieces. Male female at the seem next to it but I could be wrong. I’m wondering about rotating the housing so the lines come out the front in order tho make it work with the factory crossmember.
