Hood alignment
I got a set of different used hood hinges, guy I got them from said they had been redone. Looks like they have been but im no hood hinge expert. I can't get this hood lined up at all. This is also a different hood, the hood that was on it when I got the truck was a cowl hood and I never could get it to line up right either so I was hoping this hood and hinges would work better. Is there usually enough maneuvering with hood hinges to get the hood to line up correctly based on how it looks now?

Re: Hood alignment
When I did mine I kept everything loose. Radiator support, fenders, and cab cowl even the triangular gusets at the fenders and radiator support. I also had to drill out the holes where the hinge bolts to the hood. It just takes time and an extra set of hands don't hurt

Re: Hood alignment
My hood fits like a turd sandwich. But it opens and closes good. Thats all that matters.

Re: Hood alignment
It's a lot easier if you have two people. That way one can push the hood up while the other one tightens the bolts. LockDoc

Re: Hood alignment
I'll try the suggestions today when I get home from work. How much pressure do you guys have to put on your hoods to open/close them? I can lift this hood and close with one finger. Don't know if that is good or bad thing. I mainly messed with the hood/hinge bolts yesterday. I'll try the hinge/fender bolts today. Is there that much play in the fender/hinge bolt area?

Re: Hood alignment
You should be able to get the back in alignment. Also the bolts up through the hood can slide it over to get the gap closer on the drivers side. Follow Huck 's advice ....1st loosen rear fender bolt and hold the hood up all the way.

Re: Hood alignment
Body lines??? My 68 has never been apart, 59,000 miles. Gaps are horrible compared to todays standards.
With that said, that is not good. Try another set of hinges. Or oblong the holes to allow the hing to adjust more.
