Overdrive

So in my quest to get overdrive in my manually shifted GMC, I've gone from putting an old school 3 speed with overdrive to now this. Couldn't find a correct replacement governor for the 3 speed, so found a Camaro version T5 for $200 with the intention of putting an S10 tailshaft on it, until I stumbled across this nifty little add-on.

It will be interesting to see how that works when it's on the road. Keep us posted. It looks like a mechanical marvel.....

It’s a tremec item. They made them for a Euro version of the T5. With a couple easy mods, I was able to adapt it to the Camaro version. Puts the shifter really close to where the sm465 would come through the floor.

Re: Overdrive

Ok, I responded - THEN I re-read your post, noticing the funky contraption on your tailshaft/shifter - somehow I missed the whole point of your post the first time around, ha. Do tell, where DID you find that gizmo??

Re: Overdrive

Wow, was just looking to take on the T5 project. You will have to let us know if there are space issues in the tunnel.

Re: Overdrive

It's in. Need to fab up a crossmember because I ended up having to remove the original bellhousing mount style. It's tight, but works like it should.

Re: Overdrive

That T-5 looks like it will work sweet with your 250. I have a truck with the 250/3 speed auto. I'm currently about where your at except I'm install ing a 292 with a 200-R4 automatic overdrive. My truck has the 373 gears, yours probably does also. I see your also adding Air, looks like the same as mine. Do you know as to wether or not you are going to need a 3 grove harmonic balancer for the air conditioning? Hope everything works out for you.

My truck doesn't have power steering, so a 2 groove pulley is going to work for me.

Re: Overdrive

I guess if I had looked at the gear box, I would have know that. Love the intake you have, are you going to use a 4 barrel or adapt it to a 2 barrel?
