Got the motor done and running!!!!
I finally finished my motor. Built from scratch 327. 350 4-bolt main block #3970010, 307 cast crank, 283 #520 casting heads 64cc chambers with 1.94 intakes and 1.50 exhaust. Hooker comp headers, aluminum intake from a 68-69 chevy camaro stock for a holley, 600 cfm holley, comp cams XE-268-H cam, 9.5-9.75 to 1 compression. SUPPOSED to make about 340 horse and 393 Ft. Lbs of torque. Had some problems getting it in cause I had a 292 before so motor mounts had to be adjusted. But I had to put it in the 4wd position and it worked just fine!! Clutch linkage, headers and all. Purrs like a kitten. I'll get pics up soon.
still playing with timing and Carb. has 66 main jets and a 6.5 power valve. running 6 degrees inital timing and about 34 total timing. Some have suggested taking the vacuum advance off but any Ideas would be helpful. seems to run a bit rich yet. Thanks a bunch Nathan

WAY TO GO!!!! Progress feels good eh. What tranny are you running? I just dropped my similarly built 350 into my 72 and put it in the rear location. I am running the stock 3 speed tranny that has been converted to a floor shift instead of column. The only problem I see I may run into is the clutch linkage. Pic would be great!!

finally got pics, it needs a bath cause of the oil. with the sealed valve covers and no PCV (in progress) the only vent is through the breather. and until the rings get seated it will have some blow-by. the machine shop told me 1000 miles to seat the rings and a quart or two of oil. it gets better the more I drive it. I beat a cavilier with it the other day. that's nothing to brag about but I did find out that I can't keep it glued to the ground on a launch. still dreaming on that one. hope you enjoy!!

the machine shop said that after 500-600 miles I could drive it like I stole it. it just takes a little longer for the rings to seat. because of the way they hone the bores. in fact I asked him about it the other day and he said that it would be fine and it's good for it to work it like that. I don't argue with this guy. he has forgotten more about engines than most of us will ever know. has built motors for people around the world.
