Question Car seat help?

Evening everyone, hoping some fellow dad's can help. I recently for a new crew cab, a 78. Pretty solid and nice (for me lol). And the back only has lap belts. This really allows the car seat to move around on curvy roads. Anyone ever add or do anything to help it stay put? Different seat? Adding clips for car seat buckles? I'm open to ideas.

Re: Car seat help?

I took a piece of plywood, and put a 2x4 on one end to lay the car seat back a tad.

My 74 C20 had the factory bench seat.

It worked fine, and my boy loved riding in the truck that way. Since he could see what we were doing he thought it was great. Because he would get mad if we took the wife's car. Where he couldn't see much.

Re: Car seat help?

I've got two car seats in my crew cab. Center gets my knee in the seat and then I snug the belt tight as hell. The belt runs through the back like the manufacturer suggests. Same with the retractor on the side I push down on it and let the belt lock. They dont go anywhere even on a vinyl seat.

Re: Car seat help?

I had one in my '74 K20 with no issues on the bench seat and lap belt. Pretty sure I was the only one to be in our local car show with a car seat too. You really have to push down on the seat to pull that seat belt tight enough. Even in my newer trucks with the Latch systems I end up putting my knee in the seat to get them tight enough to keep them from sliding around.
