Remanufactured Cylinder Head
All,
Have a 66 292 I6 that needs some headwork. Primary reason for removing the head is a valve cover bolt hole with a broken bolt down inside, causing a massive oil leak. While the head was off figured I'd get the seals, guides, and seats (as required) done. Anyone use any of the remanufactured heads (ATK, PowerTorque, or SureFire) from the autoparts stores? They are quoting ~$290 + $100 core charge. I called 5 local machine shops and they quoted $400+. I get the concept of you get what you pay for, but let's face it...this is a farm truck motor, not a F1 race motor. In reality, how hard is it for ANY machine shop to rebuild a 292 I-6 head? Any particular brand you can recommend, or to steer away from? Thanks! Last edited by Bushman66; 05-20-2019 at 04:42 PM. |
