71-72 C20 Front Bake Hoses (Again)
After searching everywhere for brake hoses for my 72 C20 I still have not found a set that fits into the stock tabs on the frame. Does anyone on here make custom hoses that would work for this application? Or does anyone know of brake hoses from another vehicle that will work in this application? I have been unable to find a local shop that is able to make these hoses.
Below is a picture of the problem. The retaining clip groove does not protrude far enough into the bracket to slide the clip in. I really don't want to modify these hoses by cutting a new groove in the fitting for safety reasons. Last edited by SavageC20; 05-21-2019 at 12:25 AM. |

I carefully measured and then cut new slots. But since I'm lowered the hose length is a little on the short side and just a bit tight. I'm going to have custom ones made approx. an inch or so longer.

Call Karps power brake. They are making me custom hoses for my lifted 72 k10. You have your choice of factory rubber style or braided stainless.

I ended up using brake hoses for a 69' Camaro and they worked great.

Re: 71-72 C20 Front Bake Hoses (Again)
I found a hydraulic shop that is somewhat local to me that makes brake lines. They gave me an assortment of fittings to take home and try on the truck. None of them ended up fitting right so I resorted to cutting a groove in them with a Dremel to make it work. The shop carries brake quip fittings, the banjo fitting part numbers are hfb158 and 159. However, the shop was unable to source the banjo fittings that connect to the caliper because they have apparently been discontinued. So I resorted to giving my repro lines from GMCPauls to them and they are going to cut the banjo fittings off and solder them to new "lifesaver" fittings.
This was way more work than I thought I would be, but I should have a truck that stops on a dime when its all over. I'll post pictures of the finished products once I get the lines back from the shop and install them. |

The hydraulic shop ended up burning through the banjo fittings when trying to fit them to the lifesavers. I ended up just using a random banjo fitting off the shelf and had the lines made up 1 inch longer than stock. Had to grind down the raised area on the drivers side caliper a bit to get the fitting to sit flush. Ended up working out well. Here are the new lines.

Is it just the angle of the picture, or does that line make a tight turn going to the caliper? Or is it my eyes? I had surgery on my foot this morning and I'm a bit cross-eyed, yet.
