Tach mounting on door pillar
For those that have mounted a tach on the door pillar, was there a way to route the wires inside the pillar and under the dash without drilling more than one hole where the tach would mount? Or were the wires run on the outside of the pillar?

I don't remember but I think I slipped the wires under the door gasket, then snuck them under the dash. I like that position better than factory.

Yes you can route the wires through the pillar. Suburban's run the tail light harness through the pillar. It won't be easy and a full tank of patience will be required, but it can be done.

Thanks for both suggestions. If I was to route inside the pillar I think I would have to drill a hole at the bottom of the pillar where it is separated from the under dash area. Should there already be a hole there in a C-10?

There is an access. That's where the patience part comes in. Photo poorly shows where the hole (circled) is on my Suburban.

Yeah, I've run clearance lamp wires through the pillar. But I took it you were wondering about drilling a hole to get out to the tach. I did it the way I described, no holes, and you hardly saw the wire sneaking out between the door gasket and dash. Another way is to remove dash pad and slip wire under that and through one of the slots (with wear protection)
