Dads 1966 C-10
So after I did an LS swap on my 66 SWB custom cab my dad decided to put his 1966 back together his truck is a standard cab long bed fleet side. Originally it was a 327V8 with a three on the tree. Since then It was switched to a 4 on the floor and the old 327 replaced with a used 350. It was his daily driver back when I was a little tike. He decided to tear it apart maybe 10 years ago and the plan was to give it a freshening up and give it to my little brother. My little brother moved out of the state so it just sat in the corner of the shop collecting dust. I’ll start adding pictures of the truck and the progress. It has come a long way since last summer. Pictures to follow

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
So I started receiving pictures from my little dad and I was super stoked that he was working on the yellow truck. Up until this point the cab was sitting in the corner of the shop. It needed floor patches cab corners and the rocker panels replaced. Here’s my dad 65 years young

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Wiper motor mount was rusted out pretty bad. Salvaged one from a doner truck. Cut removed and replaced

September 3rd 2018:
Used an NOS GM rocker panel on this side. Floor is looking good. The underside was cleaned and coated with undercoating

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Wiring harness for the PCM is longer than I like and so it makes it difficult to hide the wires under the dash. I will be shortening each wire one by one. I started on it last Friday but I had to head home because of work. Hopefully I can make it back out there a couple more times this summer and finish up the computer wiring.

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Tailgate was just painted factory dark yellow with ivory letters. Those letters are not decals they were painted first then they were taped off. Once the body color was sprayed the whole tailgate was cleared

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Header panel and grille together. My dad picked up this set of Cragar S/S wheels and nearly brand new set of Michelin tires for 500. What a score

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Went to dads on Sunday and continued where I left off. LS harness is now completed and it’s now standalone. I converted the main cab harness to accept the gauge cluster since the truck originally had warning lights and the harness is now installed. My dad picked up a fuel pump because the late 80’s pump I. The donor fuel tanks was for throttle body injection. I turned the key and the 5.3 busted right off. Wheels installed

Inner fenders and core support on, and the radiator is in place so the shroud can sorted out

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Hole cut in the shroud for the electric fan. I wired the two speed fan to the pcm so the fan will switch on and off as needed. Transmission cooler has been mounted

Re: Dads 1966 C-10
Went up and helped my dad fix the gas gauge so we could put the bed on. He had already relocated the gas tank under the bed of the truck so the gauge needed to be fixed first. So other than a radio the truck is ready. My dad decided he wants to go with steel wheels painted yellow with factory white hubcaps. It will look bone stock And will be such a sleeper
