Stuck oil pressure gauge

My gauge is just shy of 1/4 up from the L with the engine running or not. Is there any fix here or do I need to swap it for a working one?

Re: Stuck oil pressure gauge

Could be a clogged line, or the gauge. You can take the line off the block and put air pressure to it to see if the gauge moves.

Re: Stuck oil pressure gauge

The line was checked with brake clean prior to install. Stuck gauge is my bet. Is there a way to free it up if it won’t zero?

Re: Stuck oil pressure gauge

The gauge has a rack and pinion gear probably needs cleaning. Take it out, clean it and test with air pressure.

Re: Stuck oil pressure gauge

I'd be interested in seeing an oil pressure gauge with a rack and pinion in it. My money is on a Bourdon tube. You got another stumper for me, Randy!? After that purple starter solenoid wire running to the front of the block, down and then back to the starter, I'm starting to doubt my sanity!

Of course there is a bourdon tube, it acts on the rack which acts on the pinion connected to the needle. As pressure increases in the tube it moves the rack and turns the pinion on the needle.

Re: Stuck oil pressure gauge

As Randy mentioned the gauge most likely needs cleaned and lubed. Most off them have slight rust on the back components. I oil these three hinge points and delicately work the gauge back and forth. Should loosen up.
