Disc brake upgrade options / drop spindles.
I just dug my 71 out of storage, sat 6 years untouched. The entire braking system needs to be replaced but I don't just want to replace it I'd like to upgrade it. All I know is sometimes the spindles can determine what you can do for braking upgrades. ( even if that is right).
I am looking to lower it with drop spindle so I'd like to buy the right ones that will let me to run a better setup. Or is there even a swap that can adapt other better setups to most drop spindles? Trying to find a good build thread on this with my allotment of time I've got hasn't pan out yet. So anybody know of one ? Man I hope this made some sense. |

Re: Disc brake upgrade options / drop spindles.
Most aftermarket disc brake setups would use a modular spindle. CPP makes a set. I believe Wilwood does too, but they're a good bit more expensive.
If you're just wanting to run a factory disc brake kit you can use Belltech's drop spindles as well. |

Re: Disc brake upgrade options / drop spindles.
Thanks.
I'm assuming that I can't run a Wilwood setup on cpp spindles. I did find a build where a guy put a front and rear disc brake setup from wilwood on his truck, and I think he said it Came from az performance (If that's not right I did bookmark the site). It wasn't too bad priced but it wasn't the big brake kit either. Was kinda hoping to find a kit that had a powerbrake booster and master cylinder in it too but I can order those by themself. I'm still going to do some more looking before I order anything so if you know of any other sites to check out I'd appreciate it. Thanks. |

I don't know of anyone that packages the master cylinder with the brakes but there is a ton of options. Just got done with all this. Western drop spindles, CPP stock type brakes and a 72 master from Autozone. Truck now stops on a dime but bleeding was an ordeal in itself... |
