Lowering kit AND brake kit woes.
Hey guys, having a prob.
Have SWB 70. I want to buy the 'early classic' 4/6 drop kit: https://www.earlyclassic.com/node/1390 This kit comes with 2.5" drop spindles...but even says 'must be used with disc brakes'. I have looked and looked for disc brake kits but most come with drop spindles also. There isnt many options for disc brake conversion kits that dont include spindles? It really is too bad there isnt a 5 lug conversion that includes a real lowering kit AND discs!! I have found a few kits for a 71 like this one from McGaughys: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/m...del/c10-pickup But is says 'Must be used with McGaughys spindles' (likely they just want you to use 'their' spindles but dont want to gamble on it if they wont). -Will the 71 McGaughys front disc brake kit work the 70 drop kit from Early Classic? -Are there any other front disc brake kits that I should be considering that are not super $$$? Thanks! ~JH |

Look at CPP. I know people speak highly of the early classic stuff through.

Wilwood D52 front kit will work with aftermarket drop spindles that utilize two mounting bolts and bracket rather than the molded slide in factory type. They MAY work with the stock type spindle I'm not sure. Wilwood 140-11290 300 bux from sportcompact warehouse to your door. Wont find them cheaper anywhere else. https://photos.app.goo.gl/suN7jsh4uRJqrdzN8 Look for some pictures in this album of my spindle type, bracket and brakes. |

Re: Lowering kit AND brake kit woes.
Early Classic has a kit that has everything you need in either 5 or 6 lug. i used the five lug on my 70.

What these guys said. ECE is good, I personally went the CPP route.

Re: Lowering kit AND brake kit woes.
I would call Early Classic. When I switched the 70 drums to stock 72 front end with discs and rebuilt all the front end they gave me great advice including exactly which size adapters to reduce the brake lines at the hard line to hose fitting.

Re: Lowering kit AND brake kit woes.
One thing to think about before you install the kit is if you do not buy pre-painted parts, do yourself a favor and either paint them or clear coat them before you install.
