Tear end measurements and questions...
Measuring rear end for open drive conversion.
My baby girl came to help. Old rear measures 62 1/4 drum face to drum face.. blazer rear I have measures 59 1/4.. are 1.5" spacers converting 5x4.75 to 6 lug available? My existing chrome reverse wheels are ok. 4" back space gives me about an inch and 3/4 clearance... not enough I also found 4 lug studs stripped.. I hope new ones will hold.. long enough to do swap. anybody ever tapered hole and tacked studs in place? How much end play on axle in out is ok? Mine moves a tenth or more.. .... |

Re: Tear end measurements and questions...
Are you talking about welding lug studs to the axle?....not a good idea..
Axle moving in and out 1/8" or so is normal

Lug Studs
Evan will chime in soon with a better way but it the studs are too loose, just whack them with a cold chisel where the splines are to move a few splines out a bit further.....
They're press in fit so new studs usually fit snugly . In a pinch you can simply be *very* careful installing the brake drum and road wheel...... Farmers have been doing this for sixty + years now .

Re: Tear end measurements and questions...
They're standard studs, used on millions of trucks, try to get American made ones from a Brake Jobber......
