K30 brake valve? What is this?
Looking at a 84 k30 for parts... has this hooked up inline with rear brakes.... never seen anything like it before? Any clues?

Yep...load sensing valve. Can be bypassed and removed.

Re: K30 brake valve? What is this?
Seeing this makes me very happy to live in AZ. My frame is still all black.

Re: K30 brake valve? What is this?
I bought my k30 from down south with noaxles and bought a old plow truck to swipe the axles from. It was pretty strange seeing a rust free truck with paint still on the frame with rotted old axles. I was too lazy to clean them up cause i planned on off-roading it and changed my mind once it was built.
Living in the salt belt is just normal i guess. Kinda like the people who live in the ghetto where people get shot all the timeand don’t move its just part of life. Last truck i bought came from Mississippi, and the wife just bought a Jeep from Colorado. Everything up here is just a mess and over priced. It’s cheaper just to have rust free trucks shipped But back on topic, ive always just removed that thing. I thought its only really relevant if your hauling a bunch of weight |

Re: K30 brake valve? What is this?
Yes just remove it.
However this is the norm for salt regions. It actually looks pretty good to me. Seen far worse on 7 year old trucks. You guys down south/west don't know the struggle!! LOL. |
