Steel Wheel ??

I have 3 15x8 5 lug deep dish steel wheels , they will fit my 72 truck , Im going to run them on my 70 though after I convert it to 5 lug . My question is what did these wheels originally come on ? A GM car perhaps , Im looking for more of them (5) to be exact so I can also run a set on my 79 w dog dish caps and cant find any .

They are just like the 15x8 6 lug steel wheels for our 4x4 trucks except 5 lug .

Re: Steel Wheel ??

I think that's what I want on my truck. What is the width of rim you have there, and what is the tire size?

Re: Steel Wheel ??

They are aftermarket from back when these trucks were new. Most likely same manufacturer as factory wheels, Kelsey Hayes. I have a set myself. Wheel Vintiques started offering this type of wheel as the 62 series

Re: Steel Wheel ??

Good. I saw this thread go by a while back and bookmarked it:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=751354
I am also interested in this topic. Right now I am in a self-imposed restriction period, not ordering any fun stuff like these until I get my air conditioning going. On the list after that will be to order 5 of these. I will probably stay with 6 lug, and the thread is about 6 lug, but on Cooper Restorations website both the 5 and 6 lug are there.

Re: Steel Wheel ??

The factory offered 6-lug version of these for K/5-K/10 on the 70s/80s trucks. But they've gotten gobbled up in recent years for the most part

Re: Steel Wheel ??

I still have 1 set of the factory 6 lug wheels for now in case I keep my K10 after I replace the motor . I just assumed the 5 lug 15x8 wheels I have were factory wheels , guess that explains why I cant find any .
I thought the Wheel Vintiques wheels were still on Back Order , if not I will order 5 of those .

Re: Steel Wheel ??

I'm in the process of converting my '70 C10 from 6x5.5 drum brakes to 5x5 disc brakes. Latter requires 16". Also want to fit original steelies. Front done. Rear in process of conversion.

I looked in to getting some 8s and 10s in late-July and they were saying around now. Not sure if that has moved. I will only order when the site says "available", unless they are offered at a substantial pre-order price. I'll sit back and wait for that. I bought my 8-lug 16 x 8s that way. $125 wheels for $85 tasted good to me! That's $340 vs $500, like getting 4 for the price of three only less. Smart business if you ask me. I wonder why they don't do that with these 15 x 8s.

Re: Steel Wheel ??

Not that uncommon around here to find wider factory steel wheels. Willamette Wheel used to take your wheel cut the center out and mount it in a new outer with whatever offset you wanted. $35 a wheel back in the 80's. I've got several pairs of 10" Pontiac Rally II's that I had made back in the day.

Re: Steel Wheel ??

That's darn cheap. I was paying double that for off the shelf wide wheels back then

Re: Steel Wheel ??

I lucked out . Found a set of Steelies with tires in Ashville North Carolina for sale on Marketplace ,2 15x8s and 2 15x6 , and asked about shipping to Ga . He asked where in Ga and I told him Canton and he happened to have a friend there coming home to North Fulton not far from me . His friend brought them to me and I paid him for the wheels , good luck and great timing .

Re: Steel Wheel ??

I got my 15x8 5 lug for $92 ea. on Aug 8th. and my 15x10 for $106 ea on the 22nd from Summit. Still more than I ever paid for a wheel , but then I've always bought used rally wheels.
