Rolling New Splash Panels to Running Board
I have moved the box up on my truck by about 2 inches (53 Chevy 3100 on S10 chassis). I would like to roll new, larger splash panels that go between the running boards and the box side. The rolling of the panels seems quite straight forward, but what do I do to the ends of the new splash panels that will go toward the cab on the front and the fender in the rear? Do I just cut a piece of metal and weld it on to the newly rolled splash panels? Or is there a way to get a rounded corner on the part that bends around the front and rear of new splash panels?
Hopefully this makes sense. Wade

Hammer, dolly, pie-cut, bend and weld and grind.
I have also seen guys take a 1/4 solid rod, bend that to use as the outline of your panel and tac-it on the backside. Using the radius of the rod to be your "rounded-finished-edge"... |

Re: Rolling New Splash Panels to Running Board
Thanks. I like the 1/4 solid rod idea.

Re: Rolling New Splash Panels to Running Board
I did the same thing, raise the box 2 inches (or lower the fenders 2 inches) and rather than trying to make new curved splash pans, I just welded an extra 2 inch strip of metal to the bottom edge of the box.
I know the stake pocket not does go down all the way, but that is the only difference.....that and the distance between the top of the fender and the top of the box is larger. this seemed simpler to me |
