Hood latch issues
When closing hood, hood doesn’t latch completely closed until I push down on the hood release. I have not taken it out yet. Is there a spring that keeps the hood release in a down position or do I have some other issue? Hood looks like it is adjusted correctly and catches at 1st latch but not second.
Thanks Jeff |

Re: Hood latch issues
Yes the latch actually has 3 springs on it, sounds like you could be missing the one attached to the handle.
I'm currently looking into ideas for a better latch for my 57, mine's worn out and thinking about replacing with something that has an inside release maybe...

Re: Hood latch issues
I welded a VW style latch in the filler panel and mounted the other half to the existing latch bracket under the hood. It has a really positive latching mechanism and secondary latch. Adjustability is awesome too...
sorry no pic of the upper half |

Re: Hood latch issues
Looks like a spring or maybe a trip to salvage yard for a donor latch. Thanks for info.
