decent shocks that wont break the bank

Truck is an 87 SWB with a flip kit and 3" drop spindles w/2 coils removed. Wheels are stock 15"x 8" ralleys.

Currently have DJM 2100's in back that need to be replaced. Figured I may as well do all four.

Its an everyday driver.

Stick with the DJMs, air shocks, Belltechs?

I spent hours going through the KYB specifications catalog to find shorter rear shocks to fit my 82 C10. Nothing was the right length with the correct mounting types.

If you have the time, you might want to do the same with other shock companies. I doubt Belltech, DJM, etc. have custom shocks made, which means some shock company out there makes them as a standard catalog product.

BTW, I did have success finding KYB shocks for a 37 Chevy with an 8.5" GM rear axle, So you never know!

Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to buy a set of shock extender brackets so I can use the stock length shocks. Supposed to be a better ride than lowered shocks. We will see.

And using stock length shocks gives you a many more brands to choose from. I'd like to see a photo of the extenders after you install them. I don't quite understand how they mount.

I've used KYB Gas-a-Just monotube shocks on several vehicles over the years and have been happy with them. My 82 C10 has the less expensive Excel-G shocks, and they're probably a little better than OEM.

Best shocks I ever used were Tokico Illumina with adjustable dampening, but I doubt they're available for our trucks. Also, the entry level QA1 Street Stars are pretty nice.
