2019 6.0L pro cons

I'm looking at a 2019 6.0L from a wrecked chev express van 3500

Pros or cons using this engine trans in a 55 2nd series?

Besides looks if that matters to you there are no mechanical downsides.

You get port injection which does not have carbon issues, and you get the 6 speed auto. The 6 speed really helps bring the most out of the engines.

Only downsides if you want to get stupidly technical. Is a slight loss of power vs a direct injection engine. Also the loss of a 2-3 mpg of that matters to you in this situation.

So this 6.0 is still a Gen IV engine instead of a Gen V?

A quick look on rockauto, and it appears the express van 6.0 still uses the e67 ECU. It doesn't look like it should be any different than any other Gen IV swap.

I am not much on the LS swaps, but I do know the vans have the 6 speed plus port injection.

So even if the computer takes a bit more to unlock. It will be amazing versus the 4 speed.

GM has had six-speeds for 10 years now. I sold a 6l80e from my 2010 donor. I'm using a manual trans instead.

But only in wide use for about 5-6 years now.

It is by far the biggest upgrade to a vehicle you can make that makes everything better. In my opinion. Power to the ground, mpg, and cruisibility.

I had a 07 GMC rcsb with a highly tweaked 4L65E. It is not even on the same field as my 6L80E in my 18 Silverado. The 4L80E is tough as nails, but 2 extra gears make a huge difference. The 4L65E was not really up to the task of modern bbw trucks with big hp from the factory.

If I didnt have a big tunnel ram fetish at this point. I would be dropping the 4.3, and 6 speed into my next truck. Along with a 12-15 psi supercharger. So I can slap down the ecoboost fairies.

I would check into what that ECm takes to tune, a lot of the 19+ stuff requires sending the ecm in to have it unlocked before you can tune it and its not a cheap process.
