Shipping grilles?
How many of you have shipped grilles, and what's the best way to do it?
I've got three I want to sell, but am hesitant because they're so bulky.

Try this. It's for people with bulky stuff and shippers with open space-

Re: Shipping grilles?
IMO it's more about the packaging. I have bought four '64-'66 aluminum grills from forum members. Two of them were damaged in shipping due to insufficient packaging. The sellers told me I was SOL because they weren't responsible for what the shipper did. When packaging items to ship, you have to do so with the thought in mind that the people handling the package are trying to destroy it.

Re: Shipping grilles?
I must agree. It is up to the seller to pack correctly. I usually overpack items I am shipping. I have shipped grilles, and to my knowledge no one has ever received a damaged grille. I have also received a set of fenders from someone here on the forum, and the packing was fantastic. I really appreciated his time and effort that he put into getting them to me. It's all about the packing!

Re: Shipping grilles?
Crate them. No question. You just cannot rely on proper handling to make up for insufficient protection. if you can't build a crate, then perhaps a large concrete forming tube would work. Worth the cost for sure.

Aluminum grills I have them boxed up have customer pay for the extra, Steel grills I wrap in old carpet padding & wrap in shrink wrap never had a problem with that method.

Re: Shipping grilles?
I bought a grille from someone on the site and they wrapped it up real good in Saran Wrap and put it in a cardboard box and it made it safely to me.
