Re: Shifter boot ring help
From a logical standpoint, I say lip up. I only say that because if the lip is down, its going to be making contact with the boot and will eventually cut the boot. So by having it up, you now have a nice rounded surface that contacts the boot and prevents damage to the boot.

Re: Shifter boot ring help
I did an image search of boot ring here on the board. Take a look and decide for yourself. I agree it seems like the lip as shown in your pic seems logical for reasons stated, but the pics show differently.

The only thing I will say is that the screw holes are countersunk for the screw heads, so as long as the screw heads fit down in the countersunk holes that is the way the ring sits.... LockDoc

Re: Shifter boot ring help
I saw that too. I was thinking sharper ridge down to help hold the ring in place. Another thread I should have just watched haha!

Re: Shifter boot ring help
well after a lot of review i'm going with lip down. see the letter stamped on the ring. it was not showing when they where installed. also i think the lip down will help seal the boot. Funny how something so simple on these trucks brings conversation.

Re: Shifter boot ring help
Revised my thinking. I have seen several undisturbed trucks with the ring lip up. I also talked to several very knowledgeable guys on this forum that agree the lip goes up.
