Need some steering wheel help please

Trying to get the Blazer useable. It has a crappy Grant steering wheel and the horn does not work. Messing around I can get the horn to beep (sounds sick) with a jumper. I believe the turn signal cancelling cam might be messed up so I ordered one of those. I want to put a later model Chevy steering wheel on for now like the one below. This is on a tilt column if that matters.

And there is this diagram from grant. It shows a spacer/sleeve is this supposed to be there? I don't have one? Are there any other part that I should need other than the wire that plugs into the cam?

The wheel will fit fine on the tilt. Below are pictures of the leather covered version of the same wheel in my truck and 4 that show how I modified the horn contact to a horn wire. Ignore the condition of the column in the last picture. It's a spare I used several years ago just to show the installation in an old post.

There's usually a spring under the cancel cam, but it may work without it.
Nice job on the spring to wire contact.

If I recall correctly, that's where I got the spring.

Re: Need some steering wheel help please

There is no spring under my cam. I had to push it down to get the horn to sound with a jumper. Horn sounded weak. Need to get all the parts, buy a wheel (want leather) and get all that installed then see if it the horn, relay, or grounds that is causing the weak sound?

I believe there is a light under the lens. Going to see if I can get that working?

If you want a leather wheel like the one in my picture, look in 1992-1994 S10 Blazer LTs. Those, and the GMC Jimmy equivalent trim level (SLT?), are the only vehicles I've seen them in. The 1992 version has the leather laced on a wheel like the one in the original post. The 93s and 94s had the leather recessed in the wheel so the wheel surface and leather surface were at the same level.

Yes, there should be a light under the shift indicator lens. If you are lucky it'll have a metal cap and green plastic filter over the top of the bulb (see picture). I believe the bulb is a 1445.
