Lowering questions

I have a 70 C10 and am wanting to lower it. I am going to do a disc brake conversion and wanted to know how to lower. I want to do the 2/4 drop. So when I do my brakes do I install drop spindles and stock height springs or do I use stock spindle and lowering springs? The rear is coil so I know just springs back there.

Look at some others that have posted...for the rear springs, combination of drop blocks and lowered springs for a better ride. I cut my drop blocks on an angle (a wedge) to keep the pinion angle correct.

On the front if you are lowering 2", it will be 2 1/2" with the spindles. But this is what I would do. Since you are buying the spindles either way, I would get the drop spindles and put it together with your OEM springs. That way when you want to go lower, you haven't spent the money on springs. And most likely, you will want to go a little lower. Then you can buy the lowering spring you want to get the final ride height. Buy once and not twice! (or more...)

Awesome! That answered my question. Drop spindles and stock springs. Do you recommend the 4 inch drop in the rear? My truck has trailing arms and coils springs in the rear.

I would start with 5” in the back I think. Mine is lowered 4 1/2” front and 7” rear and the 2 1/2” difference is good IMO.

Although 4” springs gives you option of adding 1” blocks if you want it dropped just a little more and cheaper than second set of springs.

I have found that 3/5 is the perfect lowering job for the lowering newbie or the guy who just wants a comfortable drop. 2/4 is barely noticeable.

As far as I’m concerned all lowering on these trucks should start with a drop spindle, there is absolutely no change in ride quality with a drop spindle.

I agree with dropped spindle on front and springs on the rear. However, I would disagree with a 2/4 drop being barely noticeable. I did that on my '69 lwb (see avatar photo) and the difference is quite significant vs. stock.
