Woohoo!!!
Well, if you've been following my saga then you know that I found a guy that runs a local wrecker service and repair shop to sell me a 350 (installed) and new dual exhaust setup for $700.
I picked the truck up this evening and the only thing I can say is, "WOW!" I not only scored, but I think I scored pretty big. The engine runs awesome, doesn't even think about smoking, runs nice and cool, has a great lope, and oil pressure to spare. I went with 2-1/4 inch duals turned out before the rear wheels and a pair of Flowtech Afterburners. I couldn't be happier with the sound! It sounds a little mean (especially with what I suspect is a little bit more cam than stock), but is perfectly tolerable driving down the road. Whew! What a relief! Sure, I'm out $700, but considering the best quote I got for a new exhaust was $500, I'm smilin' from ear-to-ear tonight. Oh, and my heater works again, too. Good thing since that's what started this whole mess! Note to the moderators - I accidentally posted this in another forum. Please don't beat me for double-posting! Please! My wife has a chocolate cake in the oven and you can have some!

my little bro had a 305 done that way for is 79 el camino and it cost him $2500 installed and the guy used most of what was usable on the old enging. so i am saying that you got a very good deal.

dinnut, on an old worn stock engine...you'd be better off with a performer...not a performer RPM.
As for the subject at hand...sweet deal. Some one got a heck of a bargan...and some one got screwed. I hope they don't feel too violated... |
