pertronix ignition

anybody running the pertronix stuff? Specifically the plug and play breakerless and the flame thrower 2, or any other of their products, thanks

Ive heard pros and cons. I just ordered A summit HEI for $120. Hei wires $35. reset the gap on my plugs and wired it to A switchable 12V source. It was very very easy. Plus you end up with A brand new distributer. Better in my opinion!

I'm running the pertronix, point replacement kit. Not a problem with it, And I haven't heard of any problems from anyone else either. They seem to be one of the better point replacement kits on the market..

I have it also, I don't like having to run the 12 V wire though. I just ordered the B/E ignition from GMCPauls a couple days ago only has one wire to the coil and no 12 volt wire. I have a flame thrower coil. I've been running the pertronix for 2 years now, will be selling it after I get the ignition from GMCPauls.

1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone.
1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

i've been running the igniter 1 with a stock coil for about 8 months .. no problems as of yet .....

I've been running the pertronix 1 for 4 yrs and have only looked at it when I had to replace a cap and rotor about 2 yrs ago.

so far so good, I am now running the Flame Thrower HEI dist. and their matching hei wires, dont know to many details yet, like the way it runs, advances, etc.

on my old race car motor...355/11.5comp/285/525 solid....i went from the stock hei to the pertronix flame thrower stuff....big difference....very noticable...also noticed a differance in my blazer from a stock hei to the pertronix stuff....better starting and the pinging in my blazer went away....highly recommended...ive also used the points conversion kit....very good stuff in my opinion...

I usually run HEI's where appearance is not a concern. I converted my 65 SS Impala, three years ago and I converted my John Deere, four years ago. I have had no problems with the Petronics setups. It was the best upgrade that I have done for the John Deere as it starts really good now. (Points don't like sitting around as the John Deere is only used occasionally).

My mechanic just got my GMC running, I wanted a stock look without the greif of points and all of the settings that come with them. He used the Petronix point replacement kit. The truck starts and runs great. I recommend it highly.

Has anyone had any experience with the Crane electronics replacement for points they come with an adj. Rev limiter. I believe I saw them in the Summit or Jegs catalog. Ed ke6bnl

i recently installed a pertronics 2 into my 72 caddy. looks real cheesy when you take it out of the box, but it works really good, amazing difference on the ol 472! rest of the ignition is accell, coil and wires. i ran accel points too, but the pertronics is great. also a good option where space for a HEI is tight.
