Parking brake cables
For those who have swapped the floating 14 bolt in, what did you do to get your parking brakes working again? The cables on the rear are quite a bit short of the brackets in the frame as seen in the picture. I’m making a pretty concerted effort to take care of the loose ends on my truck and get it on the road over the next couple months so I need to finally resolve this. I haven’t been able to find much on extended cables and I’m not interested in moving the frame brackets. Truck in question is a 1972 K20, mid 70’s 14 bolt.

Re: Parking brake cables
Is your truck lifted? Do you cables bolt to the backing plate or use the spring fingers that push into the backing plate?

Re: Parking brake cables
Stock for now but planning 4 in the future. The cables are bolt in.

Re: Parking brake cables
I was able to buy the stock length bolt in style for our trucks from inline tube. My HO52 also takes the bolt in style. They are unfortunately to short to reach the frame brackets with my 4 inch lift. Inline tube used to do custom items, but I don't know if they still do. You'll have to get in touch with them and see. If you had the push in style it's a lot easier. The cables for a 1974 G10/G20 van are 6 inches longer, and would snap in place. Another route would be to remove the bolt in brackets and modify them to accept the snap in style and get the van cables. Hope this helps, and if you find a better solution, please post it here
Below is a link to the stock length cables with the bolt on end, which will work with no lift. https://www.inlinetube.com/products/re4165 I would check NAPA too. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/UBQ9...ut=brake+cable Thanks Last edited by 724jacks; 04-17-2020 at 07:38 PM. Reason: Add link |

Re: Parking brake cables
Thanks! good call on inline tube I never would have thought of that. I’ve got a buddy who works at NAPA who is doing some digging for me as well. I will reach out to inline tube and see what I can find.
