Dynomat on in cab gas tank?
I was wondering if anyone has put sound deadner onto the tank to deaden the sound of it sloshing in the cab? And did it work?

Re: Dynomat on in cab gas tank?
Maybe I'm just old & deaf but I don't hear gas sloshing around in the in-cab tank in my '71 GMC. My truck has A/C & dual exhaust that exit at the rear corners of the bed.. turn down under the bumper. The noises I hear mainly are wind, road & exhaust noise that all increase with speed. Not bothered by SLOSHING noise though.

Re: Dynomat on in cab gas tank?
I haven't had a running 67 for at least 6 years now but I seem to remember that at half full and on a right turn I cound hear the fuel swish around the tank. Maby my memory isn't correct. Anyone else have this and do this.

Re: Dynomat on in cab gas tank?
I don't have anything covering my in-cab tank. Yes, I hear the gas sloshing around. I don't think I would do anything to reduce it, because I kind of like it. It's things like the triangle vent window, the 4 1/2 turn steering ratio, the tink-chew-tink-chew of turn signal flasher, the sound of gas sloshing around in a big tin, and the starting procedure for the carbureted engine, that remind me of the days when things weren't just a bunch of plastic. Makes me smile.

Re: Dynomat on in cab gas tank?
I did this... first I sprayed it with sound deadener from The Eastwood co. and then covered it with Dynomat. I also did the cab floor and inside the doors. Makes a big difference.

Re: Dynomat on in cab gas tank?
Dynomat does yield some sound insulation, but it is mostly to stop the vibrations of "loose and free" sheet metal. eg. Take a dummers cymbal and just put a piece of chewed gum on it somewhere...it makes a big difference. The gum dampens the cymbal's vibrations hence killing the sound. Your gas tank already has the chewed gum in it in the form of gasoline. A better solution would be closed cell foam, carpet, cardbaord, or even some bubble wrap. Adding dynomat to will help a bit, but not as much as some ohter things. Carpet would be on the top of my list to try.
Me...I dig the sloshing.
