opinions wanted on this truck
I know it isn't a 67-72 but I would like to know what you guys think of this ride.
more pics here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=80658 I posted this here because there isn't a ton of movement on the 55-59 board Thanks guys

Love it
Closer to what I had in mind when I bought my 68. Hard to find one here that isn't rusted off the frame though.

It has some nive work done to it. I am not a huge fan of those years, especially the fleetsides. It could be cool though and different, least to me because you don't see many fleetsides in those years.
Go for it if you got a parking space for it. #3 in line ??

I kinda dig that front bumper. I can picture it lowered with some big meats in the rear - yep, I think it has potential - plus I don't recall seeing one like it before.

Judging by the bed it is a '58 or '59 i think.
I love those trucks...especially with the fleetside bed. Slap some fenders on it, squirt on a new coat of black and curise! Or even better...somehow put it on a 67-72 coil frame so you would have a more modern chassis, and it would still be a truck!

very nice find, '58-'59 GMC, if you do get it you won't be dissapointed. I've got a '58 chev and it's the best truck I've bought yet. They're a little hard to find parts for since they were only built two years with quad headlight but they're out there. Hope ya get it!

Offer him $500 and go from there
I really don't know too much about the value of those 50's pickups, but i would love to have one. It looks pretty solid too. I say go for it....and start work on it once your '72 is done

I told the guy that owns it now, that One of the previous owners, the one that did all the work on it, sold it for $500 , 2 years ago, and he says " there's no way I can let it go for that" He hasn't even touched this truck yet, just had it towed to where it sits . But thats a used car dealer for you eh. I'll see what he wants for it later today

That would be a heck of a deal at $500. Does it come with both front fenders and grille and everything? whats the engine?

Sweet, i've always liked the fleetsides better in all years. I especially like the Cameo's with the fiberglass bedsides. I recently bought a house and there's a 58-59 fleetside bed that someone made a trailer out of. It's in real nice shape except the wood floor lol. Trying to convince the wife that I need to buy a 58 chevy truck to go with the bed:p

Go for it Tim, that could turn in to a cool ride IMO. Saw one similar painted black with red reversed rims and small hubcaps, and it looked great.

Offer $700. It would still be a great deal and the owner will be happy to make $200 off it.

Looks like a sweet project to me! I've wanted one of those things for a long time. I'm assuming that there isn't too much body rust?
Like Randy said, Offer him a little more than 500, he will be making money on it, and you will get an AWESOME truck! You couldn't get something like that around here for under 1500 bucks or so! Good luck!

Is it a Cameo with the fiberglass fenders or an early steel bed fleetside?
If its a Cameo SNAP IT UP! (It looks like an early fleetside to me though.) You might check out the stovebolt.com message board. There's quite a lot of traffic there.

no thats not a Cameo bed, just a regular fleetside steel box, cameos have a recessed area where the bulged out are is on that box and have thicker sides too.

I assume its the one you spoke of in chat last night and it looks like its got alot of potential. Of course up close and personal is when youll find any and all defects but fromt hat pic it looks pretty nice. loli know ya said they took the fenders off are they coming with the truck and are in good shape and there aint a ton of filler under the paint?
my only other comment is to make sure you finish one project before ya spread yourself too thin on all of em and they all suffer.Keep us informed on what ya do with it

I'm going to be a humbug here and say pass on it, He wants to much money, and there hard to find parts for, no matter what you do to it it will always be a corn binder and ride like a buck board, unless you put mega bucks into it, especially if you're doing it for the wife, I'd stay with the 67-72 stuff, lots of parts and there modern enough to get a nice drivin smooth running truck that the wife doesn't have to muscle all over town, said I was going to be a humbug Lol just my worthless two cents, Tim

no matter what you do to it it will always be a corn binder and ride like a buck board, unless you put mega bucks into it, CORN BINDER???? (USSUALLY ONLY INTERNATIONAL TRUCKS ARE CALLED CORNBINDERS) & AS FOR RIDING LIKE A BUCKBOARD....... 1/2 TONS OF THIS VINTAGE RODE GREAT. PULLING A LEAF OR TWO OUT OF THE SPRINGPACK, & SOME NEW SHOCKS DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MEGABUCKS TO ME. THE ONLY WAY YOU'LL SPEND A TON OF MONEY ON THAT TRUCK IS IF YOU PAY SOMEONE TO DO EVERYTHING YOU WANT DONE. I HAD A 58 BACK IN THE 70s & IT WAS A GREAT TRUCK. I GUESS YOU'VE NEVER OWNED ONE HUH CASEY?? JOHN
