3 on tree column

So I am searching for a 3 on tree column for my 59 gmc but it’s hard to tell people what will work as I have no idea I just say 58-59 gmc, so I am wondering what years interchange and will the Chevy column be the same? Hoping it was a long run like 55-59 or something thanks guys.

Re: 3 on tree column

I want to say they are the same, But, not 100% sure, with that i believe they are the same only GMC had a White Knob on the shifter vs Black on the chevy,
Now with that 55-56 steering column mast are "Longer" vs 57-59 chevy column's
55-6 had a Flat steering wheel making the column Longer vs the Dished steering wheel on 57-59 the column was shorter.
Good Luck with your truck!

Just to play safe I’ll look for a 58-59 column and go fully someone chimes in and says Chevy ones will work also.

Re: 3 on tree column

i thought the 58-9 column was a little shorter to make up for the deep dish steering wheel

Re: 3 on tree column

I have a 3 on tree removed from my 59 GMC 101 Fleet that appears to be good. PM if interested and I can text pics. It was a 270 3 speed.

57 column uses same wheel as 58/59. Haven't test fit one myself, but I'd bet it would work exact same.
