Routing tailpipes on outside of frame

I can't find the picture now but I saw a guy who routed his tailpipes from inside the frame to outside right in front of the rear shock and then along the frame to the rear dipping up for the axle. I'm left wondering if this will limit the width of rear tires? On a Fleetside with stock inner tubs.

My exhaust is like that on my fleetside and I think it would put some limitations on tire width. If I were going that route I'd want my wheels and tires done first.

After looking at it more closely, it could work fine with wider tires until one begins to start tubbing the wheel wells. My 2.25 inch tail pipe could be contained completely underneath the bed floor had I been more concerned about it.
