new member introduction
Greetings all.
I have been reading the forums for a while and now am able to post. I have already found some great info here so thanks. I am building a 55 truck. This truck had been a little street truck in the 80s and had been put on an 80 something El Camino frame. Every seam had been welded and ground flush, Radio deleted and smoothed, tailgate welded shut all the way around.... more bondo than you have ever seen. When i got it home I realized how rusted away the frame was, and what a hack job it was... So without a frame i started researching and decided to go with a caprice chassis. I have used the Kit from EZ-Chassis swap. I have it now on a 94 caprice with a 91 8.5 10 bolt posi out of a cop car. I have replaced every steering and suspension piece on the car, and added rear disc brakes. I replaced every part of brakes and used a firewall master cylinder and booster from CCP. I Intended to keep all the ABS functional, but No matter what I could never get the brakes to bleed. I assumed it was the ABS pump and i replaced it too, but no luck. Anyhow i finally tracked it down to a leaking vacuum booster, but only after replacing a ton of brand new parts and removing the ABS (ill get it back working at some point) We've got a 6.0 LS with a TKO 500 off the back of it.... anyway it runs but not driving yet Anyhow, We hope to get it reliable and comfortable enough to pull a teardrop trailer and maybe pull a little daily driver duty. Thanks for some great forums Last edited by jasonpotts; 07-14-2020 at 08:53 AM. Reason: picture |
