Accelerator Cable Length Help
Hi! I could use some help finding a new accelerator cable. I ordered one from Classic Parts and theirs is 21.5" long. The length between the throttle bracket and the firewall is 9.25".
My original cable is 20.5" long which seems to be accurate based on what I read on this forum, plus it fits in the truck and works. I want to replace it because it's a bit worn and eventually it will need to be replaced. I can't find a 20.5" cable for the 71 C10 trucks anywhere. I am open to modifying the one I bought, but I don't want to destroy a $25 cable because I don't know what I am doing. Does anyone know where I can purchase a 20.5" cable for these trucks? The 4x4 version is 18" so that won't work either. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! This is the current cable I have. The rubber is too damaged for me to mount it in the clip, but it is the right length. The 21.5" cable comes up 3/4" closer to the front.

Re: Accelerator Cable Length Help
I ran into the same issue on my '74 K20. I ordered an aftermarket cable from LMC- they only offer one for a '74 that says it fits all models with a 350. After trying to install it, it was obvious it was too long and needed to be curled around to make it work. I did some searching and found a NOS cable instead. Pioneer makes the aftermarket cables, at least for LMC and O'Reilly. https://www.pioneerautoinc.com/all?subcategory=707
Their site says the correct cable for my '74 K20 is 23.54" long- which is way way wayyyyy too long.

Re: Accelerator Cable Length Help
Try this company and disregard the lengths as I'm not sure they apply to your specific application. It was just some research on my part.

Re: Accelerator Cable Length Help
Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, curling this cable won't work since it's the shielded part that's between the carb and the bracket. I may have to look for a NOS cable. I don't get how hard it is to find one in this size for these trucks.
I'll call Classic Parts in the morning for a RMA number.

Re: Accelerator Cable Length Help
here's the number I used on my '71 c10 sb auto. the number is 6264923 and I bought it from Ebay. It looks a little long but works great. Sorry for the bad picture, trying to hold camera and light
