Show Your Mug - Family Time

Don't be shy. Just do it so we can all laugh at each other. I'll even start since it was my idea. I'm doing then & now because I came across this picture of my next younger sister, 2 years younger, and me taken a while back (I'd say). This was back before the interstates about the halfway point to visit Grandma, Grandpa, aunts, uncles, and cousins "up home". We'd get lunch at a great restaurant and in summer take a dip at the town park along the creek.

This picture is at the overlook for The Cove, the valley Grandma grew up in, not far from the town she and Grandpa raised their family in and lived where our mom is living. The picture was last summer. That's my same sister in the center and my 2 year older sister on the right

This last one is all of the original 5 kids, which I fall in the center of in ages... two older and two younger sisters. That's the same younger sister out of the pool, our younger sister (6 years) in the foreground, 2 year older sister on left, and oldest (4 years) in the middle

Later on in '68 we got another sister, then in '70 I finally got a brother when I was 15. A lot of help he was protecting all those sisters

Wow we had pics like that when I was growing up. We lost them when I was like 12 in a rush to depart another state. Looking back I think my step dad was being chased by someone, law or otherwise.

The little guy in the picture looks like he thinking, bet my dads uncle wished he didn’t eat those tacos, he must’ve waited too long to go to the bathroom.

It wasn't a mullet. It was just windy that day and it blew my hair back to one side.

Smart azz guys at work would call me Joe Dirt. But I didn't care because girls liked my hair like that. And I liked the girls. A lot.

I was standing in line at a hot dog stand in my uniform and a guy came up to me and said "Hey man do they let you grow your hair that long?'
I'm thinking. How stupid is this guy. Obviously they do.
So I told him no. I just woke up this morning and it was like this.

I remember that album cover but can't remember the name of the group or any of your songs

First one your family looks too happy to have been left hanging. Who took the picture, the evil BS artist thinking "heh heh heh, Let me get a picture of these folks all happy the truck is sold before I disappear into oblivion...mwah hah hah hah hah"?

Second picture, that picture looks ruined. Er rather, looks like ruins.

Nnnno. I'm a medium height kid there. Remember the surfer shirts? There are two in the picture. My buddy Jimmy Nine is wearing a ponderosa shirt. Remember those?

Very cool pictures, concept. Probably the coolest yet. It's good to know you're not actually green, Lee

Here is the whole famn damily in 1972, minus my dad who took the picture. See? What did I tell you about my eyes in photos.

Ohh, I was actually quite happy he didn’t show up! I didn’t really want to get rid of it but the money would have been nice. Yes those are ruins... Chaco culture historical park to be exact.
Here’s one with me and the kids from RCR last year before the coke 600. That was a dream weekend for me.
And here’s one from when I bought the Camaro a couple years ago. I hate this picture sooo much. I look like a 10 year old with no beard. My wife and the car are both far more photogenic than I’ll ever be. Facial hair is a must for me.
You’ll probably all notice I own a lot of Chevy T-shirts.

My oldest sister, 4 years older. She was a huge influence on me. She passed away Dec 15th, '91 two weeks after turning 40. A brain aneurism took her life. She was a successful Silversmith/jewelry maker living in Taos, NM. She was married to the owner of KTAO, the first solar-powered radio station in America, maybe the world. She was an amazing and powerful and very health conscious human being taken at far too young an age. Her death also came just two weeks prior to my younger son's birth. She will always live on in many hearts. Also, every organ that can be donated (5?) found their way to others to allow them to live on in good health

We’ve been married just a smig over 10 years.

You can tell your grandson is going to be a great big brother.
My big brother is moving to Alabama come this Saturday. I saw him this last Saturday and made sure to let him know that I am glad he is my brother.

Sounds like your big sister was an amazing person. You see by the picture that she was fun to be around. I’m thinking that she had bless countless people in her too short of journey.
Man it is sad to learn of your loss..
I hope I didn’t say anything wrong here... but this is the most moving thread I’ve read in all the years I’ve been here.

Kind of weird, I was thinking the same thing. See, I get pretty cagey about photos of my family on the internet, as in I never post them. For some reason that I don't really understand, I jumped at the chance to show off my family. I guess It's like sharing pictures and stories of my family with my extended family. Lord knows Im here every day at least once although Ive been in a bit of a funk recently and haven't felt like Ive had much to contribute. It still feels like home here though.

This was a great thread idea Tim. Thank you for sharing your family with us.

My mother survived an aneurysm 25 or so years ago. Things were pretty normal til 5 years ago when she was diagnosed with early dementia. I feel for the loss of your sister. I am still coping with the loss of my mother who has left us but is still physically here.

Back on track, here's a few more...

1st pic is my 1-1/2 year younger brother, Mom, Pop and I. My old '57 Napco 3/4 ton utility truck in the background. I think we were getting a Christmas tree. Must be around '92 - '93 or so.

Next up is my Mom from shortly after I was born around 1970.

3rd is Mom and Pop likely 10 years ago.

"You look different with a cap on"

Tim,
Yeah, I am about 50 lbs heavier than in that first photo and ain't none of it hair.

Sorry to hear about your older sister. Seems the good ones get taken from us all too soon.

Good stuff here folks. Gives depth beyond just the name and trucks.
