71 chassis. How'd I do?

Picked up this 71 coil spring long box chassis last night for $250. How'd I do?

5 lug rear axle, disc brakes, shocks and a bumper. Seams like a steal to me.

That's a deal!!! It will make an 67-70 better with the disc brakes, and makes a 67 power steering swap much easier.
I have a similar 72, I hope to be doing more work on soon, for my 67.

My next step is polishing the original paint and getting all the trim back on it. PO used liquid nails on the side moldings!

Were you on I5 South in Tacoma last week? If so I saw you headed down the road and thought to myself "what a beautiful truck" If it was not you, you have a doppelganger out there!

Thanks! That was me. I was chasing a $500 pop-up camper. Drove 80 miles to have the guy tell me the price was now $2500! I get 8-10 mpg and 60 mph is about tops so I wasn't happy.

What an As$hat! Makes me angry just thinking about it, and I don't event want a pop-up camper. I hope the greedy bastad was paid with counterfeit money.

I had a guy pull that with a 94 Roadmaster for $800. It hadn't run in 10 years, and it was pretty dry rotted. I dig a trailer out, and show up. Then its the bs that its worth $4000 based on running ones that are actually registered.

If it makes it to the top of the to-do list I want to shorten the frame. Then find a deal on a nice C20 and make a short half ton. If not, I'll part it out.

Re: 71 chassis. How'd I do?

Good find. I can relate to that driving serious miles to buy a rig only to have the seller jack the price because his buddies that had watched too many Pickers re runs told him it was worth way more than it actually was. It cost me the rent on a UHaul trailer along with gas for 150 miles each way a few years ago. I think after about 8 months of wanting what his buddies told him it should bring the guy sold it for less than I would have paid that day.

I'm after an OT rig to put an engine I have in right now but the seller has flaked out on me it seems. I sold a car to buy that one and was 50 miles from their place when I got a message that they had had a family disaster but that was a month ago and no message back.

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
