Re: My 68 anniversary arrived today

I'd be curious if the build sheet is under the seat. Seat upholstery looks different from all others, I've seen here....But I've seen very few original Golden interiors, much less ANY original interior

Mine has that general pattern of the insert, although all white, and all the same color. Mine is a Custom. From what I've read the Customs got solid color seat covers, The CST's got the nice insert type covers. Anyone here, know any different, especially on an Anniversary pickup???

What does the bottom of the RH fender cup, look like???

Can't wait for EVEN more pictures!!!

Not sure if it had been recovered at one time . Thinking it should have parchment vinyl ike the door cards so I'll look for it when I pull the seat to replace the gas tank

Re: My 68 anniversary arrived today

First thing I need to do is get a new tank gas in it is 12 years old. Rebuild the carb and tune it up . It's running on 6 cyl now no spark at 4 and 7 . Good compression so its electrical and I'm sure the carb isnt helping matters but when we got it running with a new set of points and a gas can hooked up to the fuel pump. I cranked it over to confirmed oil pressure before putting juice to the dizzy , she fired right up with absolutely no smoke let it run till it warmed up . So she moves and stops under her own power.

Then I'll go over the brakes want to do disc and a 5 lug conversion.

This is the only rot I have found on the truck both spots same side so I think it may have sat outside leaning to the drivers side

Nice find and a great looking truck. Thats a common spot for the trucks to rust as evidenced by mine.

The current state of my 68's interior, about like it was when I bought it in 1980. LOL, THere's a carpet sample sitting on top of the drivers area. I never drove it like that...

I have NOT yet found out if... and or who makes a replacement cover like this.

I'm guessing SMS fabrics might. I'll need to save up for one of theirs, though

Re: My 68 anniversary arrived today

My 68 Golden has power brakes. I plan to convert my 68 and my 67 to manual disc brakes, at least, to start with. many here have commented about liking the performance and braking ability of the manual disc setup (71's and 72's came factory with manual disc).
I have a set of 5 lug steel wheels, plan to paint them Argent. Will be able to disguise my conversion with factory hub caps. I plan to run Rally wheels also, when in the mood...LOL

Job well done on the purchase! Not many left in condition even close to yours!!!

I'm sure you know who Cliff is...: Cliffshighperformance.com if you need any Quadrajet help. I've bought 3 kits from him, this year. They cost more than the parts store kits, BUT have so much more in them. many parts that CAN'T be bought anywhere.

Re: My 68 anniversary arrived today

The front solenoid is to kick up the idle speed with the AC on. THe rear one is the kick down solenoid for the TH400 trans. TH400's used electrical actuated vlaves to kick down for passing gear down shifts. TH350's used a cable.

I'm a little surprised they added the solenoid with add on AC. Was probably done, shortly after the pickup was built, folks doing things back then, the way they should have!!!

The add on air looks a little awkward, BUT I have heard nothing but good about the under dash AC units. That compressor is, (I believe) a Tecumseh or a York. Either brand compressor is pretty bullet proof, very reliable, and long lasting.

Looks like your clutch rod hole cover is missing, just like mine had been (missing on m 67 also). The plastic ones (like what was on yours) don't seem to last long. I have bought a couple of the metal ones that are held on with screws, not sure if they fit the hole, or not. I think a plastic hole cover could be made to work, these days, much better....
