Electronic or mechanical speedo?

I’m about four weeks in my new (to me) ‘67 C10. Still working through all the gremlins. Noticed a small tranny fluid spot on the driveway. Put it on a local mechanic’s lift for a look. A “rigged” connection of the speedo cable seems to be the culprit. Although an impressive McIver-like rig, including zip ties, it needs to be fixed. I have a 454 w/ 700r4 and want to do what’s best. Any opinion on mechanical vs electronic sensor?

Re: Electronic or mechanical speedo?

700r4 can run a mechanical speedo
I would keep it stock

If your running a 4.8 5.3 6 liter with 4l60e 4l80e then i would look at electric speedo as the new tranny has no mechanical provisions and the computer for the engine needs a speed input
