Lol

Riding lawn mowers are great. One of my friends has a 16hp Snapper with a hydrostactic tranny in it.....on pavement, if you go in reverse and then jam it into high gear, it will chirp the tires and the front will pop in the air!

I raced him in my 6-spd Craftsman with a 16hp Kolhler....he got me by 1/2 a mower lenght

Oh well...my truck is alot faster than his

Too many safety devices on today's mowers to have fun. Dad bought a Simplicity garden tractor when I was just out of high school. Had an eight horse B&S motor and 3 speed tranny. I could literally stand it on end pulling a wheely.

Hey, organised lawnmower racing is taken very seriously here in the UK with a proper race series and everything (well as seriously as you can take a bunch of grown men racing lawnmowers, I understand it involves a lot of post race beer drinking)

We also race Citroen 2CV's in the UK. If you've never seen one a 2cv (2cv is french for 2 hp) is a weird little 2 cylinder air cooled engined french car that leans around corners like a motorbike and was designed in 1948 with the original design brief being that it had to be able to carry a french farmer and his wife wearing hats and a basket of eggs across a ploughed field without breaking any of the eggs! Originally with a 375cc engine the later ones had have a thumping great 602cc's They were manufactured until the 1980's It's absolutely hilarious to watch, they even have a 24 hour endurance race just like Le Mans!

I also live just up the road from the venue of the world championship black pudding throwing competition (black pudding is a sausage made out of pigs blood and other unmentionable bits) who said the English are eccentric!
