Hopefully this Board fixes my Tach problem
Seen some recent post of the forums here about tachs not reading right cause of HEI's. Couple people mentioned they tried these and it cured their problem. I have a Petronix Distributor in my truck and wrote the seller before I ordered the new board and he said it should work. I will post and let everyone know how it works once installed.

I bought a 6 cylinder board from them and rebuilt a non working 8 cylinder tach with it, for my Green '67. So far it is working good. The only problem I had was removing the mounting studs from the old board and installing in the new one. If I do another one I would figure out something different for that. I think Andy rebuilt one with one of their boards also. LockDoc

Re: Hopefully this Board fixes my Tach problem
I’m running the same setup, though I have the Mallory version.
It sounds like the board you’re replacing is the issue to begin with. I had a factory Tach in my truck and then did the Points to Electronic conversion. I was expecting issues, but everything worked fine. Fast forward twenty years. One day my Tach Just started acting erratically, bouncing at first then reading low. So I ordered and installed a new one. Problem solved. Only after I did this, did another board member (Andy) is Find the mother board that is on your post. I could have saved about $40 I am going to order oNe of these to fix my original, just to have one on hand for a future project truck. |

Re: Hopefully this Board fixes my Tach problem
Here is the thread I did a few months ago on this. Mine is working great with the HEI. The original tach worked also but started giving me trouble.

Re: Hopefully this Board fixes my Tach problem
If you guys don't want to run Petronix, I've used these guys for many years:
https://performancedistributors.com/...nition-system/ They use to be made wholly in USA, not sure about products these day. But, never had a problem with a OEM tach with this setup.
