Re: What is it?
Is there one on both sides?
Is your truck a C20 or larger? Is there something riveted on the other side of the frame?

Re: What is it?
My C10 has those and the driver's side rusted out much like yours, but worse. I ended up cutting portions of the holey frame out and welding in new metal. I believe that piece to be a frame stiffener. I did not get rid of mine, but incorporated it back into the restructured frame patch.
EDIT: IIRC, I made a new piece out of equivalent sized angle iron.

Re: What is it?
It’s 68 C10, that’s just a pic of found on here, but I’m going to fab a new cross member. That’s really the only place I have/ had rust on my entire frame,it was sandwiched between this piece and frame rail, and I just wanted to do away with it to prevent future rust. I think it must be a reenforcement but I don’t know.

Re: What is it?
The ones I took out are in decent shape and could clean up and reuse they’re just kinda in my way if I don’t need them

Re: What is it?
If it came from the factory with it then it's there for a reason. Looks like reinforcement to me.

Re: What is it?
That's the right answer! It wasn't put on for cosmetic purposes, that's for sure.
