Stock Fuel Line with Serpentine - How-to
I've put a serpentine belt system from a 98 Silverado on my engine, and I wanted to keep the hard line from the fuel pump to the carburetor. Here's how I did it:
First, you need to slot the back of the alternator bracket about 1/2" wide in two places (top and bottom). There's also a spot on the block where the fuel pump pad is that's really sharp. You'll need to round that over. Hit it with a spot of paint to keep it from rusting. I used a piece of 3/8 rubber fuel line slit down the side to protect the fuel line. I placed the modified bracket over the fuel line and snugged it down, making sure the rubber fuel line was covering the metal line. That's it. There's plenty of room, and with the rubber protecting it there should be no problem with vibrations damaging the line.

Thanks. It's certainly making a difference in how long it's taking me to get this thing back together. Every day I find something else I need to restore, replace, or modify. There's almost nothing under the hood that will be stock when I'm done.
