1971 Hugger Orange on Saddle Cheyenne I call project “Leftovers”.
I’m calling this one, my personal truck, “Project Leftovers”
In February 2017, I flew to El Paso, TX and drove north to Southern New Mexico and bought an Ochre 1st Gen Blazer to restore. With a few hours to kill before my flight I went and saw this truck in Alburquerque. The owner had passed suddenly and his brother was selling it as part of the estate. Unfortunately, since then my truck has been in the back of the shop, on my car hauler trailer in storage or in the garage while we’ve built a dozen other C10 trucks/K5 Blazers. Well it was finally time to build my truck. A Hugger Orange on Saddle brown 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne C10 with 4800 miles on a crate 350ci V8 and 200R4 overdrive transmission. (After and before pictures below) Only rust was a few pin holes on both outer rockers which we replaced. The original long bed frame was shortened as well as the steel bed floor to convert the truck to a short bed. A pair of “left over” original 1969 Chevrolet bed sides were used to complete the bed. I used a pair of “leftover” 1972 doors that were in the bed of another truck we built last year because they were in better shape than the original doors and would accept the 72 door panels that I like. The 20 inch US Mags Rambler rims are “leftover” from the Orange & white C10 in my old FB profile picture. The grille insert and outer grille shell were “leftover” from a neighbor’s project he never got to. Thanks go to Matthew B for the metal work on the frame & bed. Jesse J for metal work on the cab and bedsides. John A for the outer rocker replacement. Larry w/Truck World & Cindy S for the seat upholstery and install. Chris P for the lowering kit install. David B paint & bodywork. Most importantly Heather for putting up with me still playing with cars and trucks after all these years.

Unfortunately the original 71 doors were rusty at the hinge mounts so I used a pair of 72 doors. Changed the regulators and latch controls too. Wrapped a pair of inserts and painted a pair of 72,Dark Saddle door panels with Rustoleum Chestnut and satin clear.
