What's it worth??
Have a customers truck that has been here for about 4 years now. He is finally guessing he doesn't have the money to fix. 1985 short bed 4x. Currently has a 6.2 turbo diesel in it that for some reason has oil in the cooling system that made it's way into the heater core, so yeah it's kinda gooey. I'm figuring a blown head gasket or cracked head. Anyways over the years it has received a 14b full float rear, dana 44 front, Turbo 400 with a 241 with a fixed yoke rear, 3.21 gearing (yes that's correct) I think the rear has a detroit. Needs interior work. Body itself is in good shape. At this point I would put a gas engine in it and replace the heater core. Sell it complete or part it??

Re: What's it worth??
Value will vary widely for different locations. Here, as it sits, it's worth $800. If you can get it to run, start, and stop, it'd be worth $1800. If it's fully road legal and dependable, but with trash paint and a so-so interior, it might be worth $4000 here.
These prices might be way off for your location. I'd suggest getting it driveable with a salvage gasoline 350, but don't bother to get it road legal. Just get it to where a buyer can drive circles around the parking lot. This particularly holds true if you have to deal with California emissions testing. Leave all that headache to the buyer.

Re: What's it worth??
I've thought about that, but not my truck. I just want it off my property. No smog with a registered diesel, although they can call you in for verification. I've got enough projects of my own

No real clue on price but if you decide to sell, might also list it on the Steel Soldiers website. A lot of folks there are restoring former military CUCVs that use the 6.2 diesel and are based on the 84 K30 or the 84 Blazer. Even if you go the 350 route before selling, they might want the pulled diesel gear.

Re: What's it worth??
It sounds like it has an oil cooler in the radiator.. That could be easily bypassed. Up here even rough and rusty squares are starting around $3k. If the floor is completely gone they go down to $1500

Re: What's it worth??
That was the first thing I had done, 'cuz it was messed up anyways. Had both the coolers in the radiator pressure checked and cleaned. Radiator came back with no issues. It's internal in the block or head somewhere. Customer didn't want to go any further 'at the time'. So it is still sitting

I wish you were in SoCal.
A registered diesel (smog exempt), even if not running, is worth a little extra in California if you ask me.

Re: What's it worth??
I cant say how much its worth but I had some 3.21 axles on my k20. They are probably worth something to someone trying to make their truck more highway friendly.

Re: What's it worth??
Cut bait and sell it like it is for what ever the market will bring and don’t look back. If you have “too many projects” that is the key here.
