Rear axle measurement differences
I have a 70 LWB C-10.
How wide is the original axle on on my truck? I have a line on a rear axle from a 2000 Silverado, that has the the Disc Brake setup on it. Now, I know the Spring perches and Shock mounts need to be moved. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the width of this axle, and will it fit my truck? It sure would be nice to have the disc brakes on the rear. |

Re: Rear axle measurement differences
It’s likely a good bit wider, I’m in the process of converting an old style 14 bolt to disks using late model 14 bolt brake parts as we speak. The single wheel 14 bolt has a 67” wms, if I remember right the newer 14 bolt is like 68-69”. I haven’t messed with the 1/2 ton stuff to know for sure though.

Re: Rear axle measurement differences
Thanks for the feedback.
I was kinda hoping to be able to do a simple swap, without a huge outlay of money, but now don’t think that’s gonna happen. I might draw up and fabricate a rear disc conversion setup, that’ll work with a stock rear end. Ok, it’s off to the drawing board |

Re: Rear axle measurement differences
NO WAY!
Thanks for the lead! Now here’s the “Million Dollar”question. Is it possible to get the rotors that fit a SIX BOLT pattern axle? Last edited by custom10nut; 11-30-2020 at 01:28 PM. |
