Front suspension rebuild???
Went and bought new tie rod ends (inner & outer), upper & lower bushings, ball joints and plan installing them this weekend - any suggestions and tips, have done it before on a 65 mustang but not on c-10.
What do we need to rent? Ball joint remover Spring compressor Already have a pickle fork Also has anyone rebuilt their own steering geer - power steering? Rate how difficult it is to do, they want $180 for a rebuilt one @ autozone.

I don't use a spring compresor. I just use a floor jack under the lower control arm, and lower it slowly (from the front! Watch out for the spring!) after popping the ball joint loose. I found a giant ball joint/u joint press to be really helpful for removing and installing the lower ball joint. I'm told a hammer will work, but the press made it easy and was a free loaner tool at O'Reilley. Slonaker |
