Lazarus. 1954 GMC
New member here. Name is Rick. I’m in southern Maine. Just wanted to share a few pictures of my project. I’ve already learned a huge amount from reading posts on this wonderful forum. The chassis is nearly finished and now I’m working on the body. A fair amount of rust in the floor and kicks but that’s all behind me now.
This is actually 4 trucks combined into one. I got the remnants of three 54’s from a hotrodder. The 4th truck is the driveline donor, a 72 GMC K2500 that I had sitting behind my barn for many years. The frame is from a 54 3/4 ton but I shortened it because I only had a short bed for it. Here are some pictures |

Re: Lazarus. 1954 GMC
Thanks everyone. Got the wing windows refurbished they were pretty rough. Frames rusted through in spots. New glass was a little thicker than original but was ok.
Shot the dash but wasn’t happy with the color plus I got a nasty sag so I darkened it a little and redid it. Jambs are now done as well as the inside of doors. I’m going with Neptune Green for the exterior as it’s the color it was born with. You can see it in the last jamb pic. Most of my friends think it’s a girl color but I’m starting to like it. Seems to fit with the 50’s ethos of optimism. I mixed my own colors since my local paint shop is just insanely expensive. The dashboard and column pics are the first attempt and the inside door color is what I settled on for interior |

3 weeks away from my project but back at it now. Wow prefitting the front sheet metal has been a battle.

Re: Lazarus. 1954 GMC
Thanks Marc! It was a lot easier to concentrate on it during the winter. Now that the weather is better it’s really easy to get distracted.
