C20 drop spindles
Having trouble locating drop spindles to do disc swap on my 68 C20. I already have the square body suspension and brakes as well as stock spindles but decided to go with drop spindles. I see GMC Paul dropped them from listing and that they are out of stock most places.
I have had poor results with searches here and also on google which led me to Belltech 3100 even thought Belltechs site states for C10-1500 only. Are the Western Chassis 2.5" drop(bolt on caliper) my only choice? and are they reputable? Thanks, Joe |

Re: C20 drop spindles
I purchased mine from POL about a year ago. Western Chassis is the only option I know of for the C20. They are a high quality product. Call POL and see if they have them in stock. Their phone support has been excellent for me.
Things to consider, I have a 68 so I was switching from drums to disc, my wheels moved out approximately .75 inches on each side. I also purchased the tubular upper control arms thinking I would need them to correct negative camber. Turns out the camber was fine with the factory upper control arms. The tubular arms gave me too much positive camber. I suggest trying your factory uppers first. https://www.performanceonline.com/19...-drop-spindle/

Re: C20 drop spindles
X2 for Western Chassis.
Quality spindles. Make sure you order the year of spindle that matches the year of your front end components you are using. .

The threads size and thread direction (RH/LH threads) on 67-70 are not the same as 71-72. In order to use the 71-87 drop spindles you will need to use tie rod adapter sleeves POL part # HPAS6570. These sleeves allow you to use 67-70 outer tie rods (which will be used on the inside position) and 71-72 outer tie rods to connect the spindles. IIRC you will need to use 71-72 upper and lower ball joints as well. So to summarize In order to use the 71-87 spindles you will need: 1. 71-72 Outer tie rods, Upper & Lower Ball Joints 2. Tie rod adapter sleeves p/n HPAS6570 3. Disc/Drum Master cylinder & proportioning aka metering valve 4. Brake lines to connect the new calipers to the existing hard lines https://www.performanceonline.com/19...ONVERSIONS-Pr/

I’m surprised they don’t have a 63-70 version for the C20 trucks, since the 71-72 and 73-87 trucks already have disc brakes.

Re: C20 drop spindles
Thank you guys for the info. Especially Big Kev-O.
Here's what I have; 73-up outer tie rods 73-up New GM C20 upper & lower arms complete with ball joints 68 outer tierods to use as inners 73-up brake hoses and fittings to connect to stock hard lines 73-up New complete GM disc brake pads/rotors/calipers/bearings, etc Ordered the POL sleeves. I'm waiting to pull the trigger on the POL spindles as I just found a set of 3" drop spindles and frame with lowered leafs that I'm going to check in a week. If that doesn't pan out, I will order the POL spindles. Can't wait to tackle this portion of my project. I love this site for all it's helpful information. Thank you, Joe Quote:
