Throttle Cable 1970 C10 LS1 conversion.
I have been working on converting my 1970 C10 to a LS1.
I thought I would share what I have learned. First thanks to the board members I purchased a 1972 interior throttle cable bracket and the adapter plate. I am posting a picture of the installed throttle with the Lokar TC-1000LS1U Throttle Cable installed. The installation of the throttle and adapter bracket was straight forward. I used regular cap screws to attach the adapter bracket to the firewall. Getting the correct 1-1/4" Screws to attach the throttle to the adapter bracket was the only issue with the installation. After the Lokar cable arrived I was able ascertain I could use one of the holes originally used for the rubber a grommet to retain the firewall installation for the firewall cable routing. I didn't need to bend any brackets or drill any additional holes. It appears to work faultlessly. The interior throttle cable bracket was used for many years and can be found on many square bodies. I did make a small spacer for the end of the cable as I was afraid the ball end might pull through the grommet on the throttle rod. I am not sure this was necessary though. I have included pictures below. One has a picture of the factory end on the Lokar cable which I just removed and did not use. I now need to find a appropriate plug for the unused hole. Hope this helps out someone with the LSX conversion. Rick Last edited by Accelo; 04-15-2021 at 08:27 PM. |
